Student: Geoffery Hendricks Reviewer: Melissa March Date: September 7, 2005 Title: Peer Review 1
Field: The field is appropriate.
Topic: The topic is appropriate.
Subtopic: It may be nice to reword the sentence, the substitution of ?motives? for ?why.? For example: A reading and analysis of the motives behind the murderers crimes. Otherwise, the subtopic is appropriate.
Limiter 1: Limiter 1 is appropriate.
Limiter 2: Although I'm not sure what exactly ?Four Blind Mice? is about; would it be appropriate to add the value of life to this set of limiters as well? The value of life coordinates greatly to the meaning of death, especially in a psychoanalytic criticism in that it gives more to be analyzed and to add to the meaning of that analyzation.
Limiter 3: The text is appropriate.
Problem: This is a good beginning of analysis, however I thought we were supposed to make questions that are to be addressed in the paper. Open-ended analytical type questions can be drawn from these statements. These statements do begin placing the focus on the motives, or causes beacuse they do not seem motivated but simply caused. I do think placing 'value of life' in your limiters will be a valuable addition to your paper in that more material will be available for analysis, and it seems a considerable factor to the character of the war veterans.
Thesis: Once your questions are formed, your thesis will likely change shape and direction. It needs to shift it's focus more clearly towards the psychoanalytic quality of your paper, it may merely be a matter of syntax.
